I am currently visiting Resources for the Future in Washington, DC where I am a Gilbert White Fellow for AY 2011-12. My permanent appointment is at the University of Calgary in the Department of Economics. My research focuses primarily on evaluating the economy-wide impacts of environmental regulations. I have written about international trade and regulatory responses to global warming, environmental taxation and tax reform, and a number of problems in which environmental and health impacts interact with pollution regulations in ways that shape the costs and benefits of policy interventions. I completed a PhD in Economics from University of Colorado at Boulder in 2003 where I worked under the mentorship of Thomas F. Rutherford. Subsequently, I worked with V. Kerry Smith as a post-doctoral fellow at the Center for Environmental and Resource Economics Policy at North Carolina State University from 2003 to 2005. I am also affiliated currently or formerly with Williams College, the Centre for European Economic Research in Mannheim, Germany and the Ragnar Frisch Centre for Economic Research in Oslo, Norway.
